Security & Protection

How secure is IronWallet?

IronWallet employs multiple layers of security to protect your assets:

  • Non-Custodial: You control your private keys - we never have access
  • Military-Grade Encryption: All data is encrypted using AES-256
  • Biometric Authentication: Support for Face ID, Touch ID, and fingerprint
  • Transaction Simulation: Preview transactions before signing
  • Address Whitelisting: Only send to verified addresses
Pro Tip: Enable 2FA and use a strong PIN for maximum security.
What happens if I lose my device?

If you lose your device, you can recover your wallet using your recovery phrase:

  1. Install IronWallet on a new device
  2. Select "Restore Wallet" during setup
  3. Enter your 12-word recovery phrase in the correct order
  4. Set up your new security PIN
  5. Your wallet and all assets will be restored
Critical: Without your recovery phrase, your funds are permanently lost. We cannot recover wallets without the recovery phrase.

Transactions & Fees

Why is my transaction taking so long to confirm?

Transaction confirmation times depend on several factors:

  • Network Congestion: During peak times, blockchain networks get busy
  • Transaction Fee: Lower fees mean slower confirmation
  • Blockchain Type: Different blockchains have different confirmation speeds

To speed up transactions:

  • Use higher transaction fees during network congestion
  • Consider using Layer 2 solutions for Ethereum
  • Use cryptocurrencies with faster block times
How do transaction fees work?

Transaction fees (also called gas fees or network fees) are payments made to network validators:

  • Bitcoin: Fees based on transaction size and network demand
  • Ethereum: Gas fees calculated as: Gas Used × Gas Price
  • Other Chains: Each blockchain has its own fee structure
// Example Ethereum transaction
Gas Limit: 21,000 units
Gas Price: 50 Gwei
Total Fee: 21,000 × 50 = 1,050,000 Gwei = 0.00105 ETH

IronWallet automatically suggests optimal fees, but you can adjust them manually.
